Economic development is a complex process that involves multiple factors and dimensions. The square theory of economic development proposes that there are five distinct levels that must be addressed in order to foster sustainable economic growth. These levels include natural resources, infrastructure, investment climate, human capital, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This theory provides a framework for policymakers and researchers to better understand the factors that drive economic development to design effective policies and strategies to promote growth.
Businesses are failing at alarming rate most especially at post Covid-19 era. Recent global inflation has also contributed to the rate at which enterprises are failing. Entrepreneurs must begin to do personal assessment to properly harness some personal attributes and deploy them appropriately in a way to enhance business performance. The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on entrepreneurial success of technology adoptees of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi in South West geopolitical zone (GPZ). Two hundred and fifty FIIRO technology adoptees who have established businesses in SW GPZ, One hundred and twenty of the technology adoptees who are members of the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (NASME) and are operating within the South West GPZ were selected using simple random sampling technique to participate in the study but only eighty-six responded to the survey instrument. Cross sectional research design approach was adopted while primary data was collected using a 6-point Likert Scale questionnaire. Data collected was analyzed using SPSS to determine the effect of emotional intelligence on entrepreneurial success. Emotional intelligence was measured using five dimensions of emotional intelligence namely: self awareness, self regulation, internal motivation, empathy and skill building while entrepreneurial success was measured by both financial and non financial performance measures. The result of simple regression analysis shows that emotional intelligence has a weak and significant effect on entrepreneurial success FIIRO technology adoptees. On the sub variables and their effects on entrepreneurial success, self regulation and empathy have weak and significant relationship with entrepreneurial success while self-awareness, internal motivation and skill building have very weak relationship and no significant effect on entrepreneurial success. Based on the outcome of this study, it is recommended that entrepreneurs, management consultants and government agencies with responsibility for SMEs development should take good advantage of the findings of this study to develop strategies that will enhance entrepreneurial success most especially in this post Covid-19 era.
This study followed qualitative and quantitative approaches, and data was collected through secondary and primary sources. This research found that 71.80 per cent of the respondents know E-government services. 28.20 per cent of the respondents do not have. 63.50 per cent of the respondents took benefits from E-Government services. Bangladesh's E-Government plays a vital role in improving the housing market sector, and 51.9 per cent of the respondents said that the housing market sector is improving n Bangladesh. 82.7 per cent of the respondent's interest in the housing market. 28.8 per cent of the respondents said it still takes less time to use the services 40.4 of the respondents said it takes a long time. The authors tried to examine the impact of Bangladesh's E-Government on Bangladesh's property markets and determine the potential consequences or repercussions. Finally, this research gives some recommendations based on the study survey, such as Online connectivity from the city to the village level is critical for gaining internet knowledge and engaging in E-Governance activities. No one can use the government online portal for personal activities if they do not have access to the internet. In Bangladesh, it is difficult for the government to deliver internet access to rural areas promptly. As a result, the government should promote private enterprises to offer low-cost internet access to the people so that the peasants may access the internet. Government should take care of that.
Background: Loan default has been shown in existing literature to have a negative impact on banks as it reduces the performance of banks and may lead to total collapse of these institutions. The high rate of default associated with loans in Nigerian banks is indicative of existing poor credit management practices by the banks.
Aim: As such, this study examined the effect of credit management practices on loan default in deposit money banks in Osun State.
Methods: The study employed the survey research design, using a well-structured questionnaire to collect responses of one hundred and twenty (120) officers and managers from two hundred and fifty two (252) officers and managers of sixty (60) bank branches in Osun State. Using descriptive and multiple linear regressions, the collated data was presented using tables, while the research hypothesis was tested at the 5% level of significance.
Findings: The study found that credit management has no significant effect on loan default, with both credit appraisal and credit monitoring exhibiting negative but non-significant effects on loan default, and credit collection policy exhibiting positive and significant effect on loan.
Conclusion: The study concluded that credit management practices have no significant effect on loan default. In other words, loan default experienced in the banks were not influenced by the loan management practices put in place. While the processes were in existence in the banks under investigation, they have not been able to affect the incidences of loan default.
Honestly speaking, Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural, human and material resources yet her citizens are suffering tremendously especially the youths. This is caused by bad leadership cum lackadaisical attitudes orchestrated by greedy and disgruntled politicians. The conspicuous immediate effect is that the poor are getting poorer while the rich are getting richer on daily basis. It is also obvious that there are problems already on ground in the country ranging from social problems (poverty, unemployment, unequal opportunity, racism, crime, cultism, terrorism, human trafficking, employment discrimination and malnutrition), religious bigotry, economic quagmire, political to environmental problems. These existing problems have done more harm than good especially on the parts of our youths at present. Our youths have resorted to banditry, kidnapping, ritual killings, prostitution, terrorism, child trafficking, yahoo yahoo plus and other innumerable nefarious acts as a result alarming rate of unemployment in the country. This paper unequivocally x-rays the survival strategies for Nigerian youths amidst obstacles in Nigeria. Also, it exposes some of the barriers that could militate against survival strategies. This paper is purely conceptual in nature. The survival strategies include POS Business, Graphic Designs, Food Community Business, Home Lessons, Writing and Selling of E-Books, Home Cleaning Services, Affiliate Marketing e.t.c. while the barriers include Negative Mindset, Pride(the killer of destiny),paucity of vision and faith, religious fraud. We concluded that Nigerian Youths need to desist from seeking white collar jobs to creating viable jobs for themselves and others via the entrepreneurial activities deliberated on so far. We, therefore, recommend and encourage youths to just positively do what they can with all they have, wherever they are and the sky will be their stepping stones.
